Who We Are

History

The Fox Point Advisory Committee is a joint committee between the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, and the R.M. of McKillop No. 220.

From 1905-1907, Robert Fox was the first Municipal Councillor for the Local Improvement Districts (now known as Rural Municipalities) in the Last Mountain area.

Tragedy struck when one of the four boys in Fox’s family drowned while playing at the beach area jutting out into the lake known now as Fox Point.

Today, the beach area of Fox Point is used frequently for recreation purposes including swimming, water sports, fishing, and picnicking.

This large and unique undeveloped beach is one of the few that is accessible on the East Shore of Last Mountain Lake. Due to the exposure on both sides of the Point, it is subject to constant erosion from water movement, and is also vulnerable to immersion from fluctuating water levels.

Please Note: Above statements are summarized from the Fox family history contained in two local history books:

“Between Long Lake and Last Mountain”, 1982 and

“Buffalo Grass to Wheat – A History of Long Lake District”, 1980.
